Someone follows my blog just to stalk my brother. I can’t remember ever even posting about him. But I got an anonymous message about him… Fucking creepy. I need to quit using my name on such things or something.. But in any case fuck off person!

That’s my motto…

I remember dancing in the tiny tots category. I was always excited to get a dollar or toys. But after that I didn’t get paid anymore.. And it wasn’t that exciting.

Rez Poetry, Wicoiye Washaka (strong words) On July 20th, 2013 the third poetry event titled Wicoiye Washaka (Lakota word meaning ‘Strong Words’) will be held at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Wicoiye Washaka, is an open mic poetry event created by Shawn Little Thunder from the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation. ‘Rez Poetry’ is a non-profit event that conducts their own fundraising with help of sponsors. ‘Rez Poetry’ may also help benefit the community to discover the power of their voices through literacy expression also known as spoken word. Within the Native American community, there are a lot of talented souls, who certainly have no way of expressing themselves freely with no judgment. Definitely, when Shawn mentions talent, she means art, fashion, singing, rapping, music, and of course poetry. Native American’s are well recognized for telling stories that tell a meaning or portray a powerful message that is passed down from generation to generation. With the passion of creating this event, Shawn wanted to offer the advantage for those to step up on stage with one mic or a duo, to hash out real soci-life of their own perspective, and steer away from the negative street life and also from being nervous or rez term ‘bucky’. Not only Is the event for Native American’s to have the opportunity to express them in a meaningful empowering way but it’s also for the whole community to take part in this idyllic event that will have you captivated.
With collective efforts from the Lakota Art Studio and the most appreciative support from the Rapid City Council of Arts, July’s Event was made possible at the Dahl Arts Center.
This is an open mic event for people of all ages and different walks of life to attend. For more information please feel free to contact us at; WicoiyeWashaka@gmail.com
